Tuxedos and Suits

What Makes CityBoy Different?

There are many great suit and tuxedo businesses for you to choose from, so you might be wondering why us. We wanted to do a brief blog as to what we value, and why you should choose us as your next special occasion rental or purchase!

First, we prioritize every detail of your look. We have tailors onsite who can alter or fix any areas to give you that custom tailored look, without the cost of a custom suit. If it matters to you, it matters to us.

Second, we value you and your specific needs for your special occasion! Many times you walk into bigger chain companies, and you can feel like one in a million, and like your needs aren't being heard or met. At CityBoy, every client matters to us. Your timeline, your specific desires, and your occasion are important to us and we will work hard to meet or surpass your expectations!

Lastly, we offer many styles and colors of quality suits and tuxedos, you could not be disappointed! You can go with that classic modern look or stand out with a pop of color. Take a look at our Lookbook to get a good idea of what we carry!

We look forward to seeing your at location to show you the difference!

What is the Difference Between a Suit and a Tuxedo?

What is the difference between a suit and a tuxedo?

There are three main things that set them apart.

First, the difference between a suit and a tuxedo is the presence of satin.

A tuxedo typically has satin facing on the buttons, pocket trim, lapels, and a side stripe down the leg of the trousers. More modern suits today have minimized the use of satin to a thin trim on the lapels and a thin stripe down the pant leg. There are exceptions to every rule, but this is a main difference!

Second, when talking about traditional black tie standards, there are other physical differences like appropriate accessories to wear with a suit and that to wear with a tuxedo.

For most modern tuxedo functions like proms and weddings, the lines have been very blurred like that of every other known style rule today. It’s common, more everyday, to wear long ties and high stance vests with tuxedos, which was traditionally a look only appropriate with suits.  Tuxedos are historically worn with bow ties and cummerbunds or waistcoats (low stance vests.)

Lastly, wearing a suit is more of a casual formal look. For instance, if you wear a suit to your wedding there is a good chance people in attendance could also be wearing a suit.

Some people wear suits everyday, and it is completely normal. Where as a tuxedo is more formal, and worn anywhere outside of that special occasion will stand out.

At City Boy, we carry both modern and slim-fit tuxedos and suits, so that you can find the formal look you desire. Whether for an important interview or your wedding day, we have you covered! Our team will not disappoint, and you will walk out ready to impress!
