What is the Difference Between a Suit and a Tuxedo?

What is the difference between a suit and a tuxedo?

There are three main things that set them apart.

First, the difference between a suit and a tuxedo is the presence of satin.

A tuxedo typically has satin facing on the buttons, pocket trim, lapels, and a side stripe down the leg of the trousers. More modern suits today have minimized the use of satin to a thin trim on the lapels and a thin stripe down the pant leg. There are exceptions to every rule, but this is a main difference!

Second, when talking about traditional black tie standards, there are other physical differences like appropriate accessories to wear with a suit and that to wear with a tuxedo.

For most modern tuxedo functions like proms and weddings, the lines have been very blurred like that of every other known style rule today. It’s common, more everyday, to wear long ties and high stance vests with tuxedos, which was traditionally a look only appropriate with suits.  Tuxedos are historically worn with bow ties and cummerbunds or waistcoats (low stance vests.)

Lastly, wearing a suit is more of a casual formal look. For instance, if you wear a suit to your wedding there is a good chance people in attendance could also be wearing a suit.

Some people wear suits everyday, and it is completely normal. Where as a tuxedo is more formal, and worn anywhere outside of that special occasion will stand out.

At City Boy, we carry both modern and slim-fit tuxedos and suits, so that you can find the formal look you desire. Whether for an important interview or your wedding day, we have you covered! Our team will not disappoint, and you will walk out ready to impress!

Hello Spring & Happy Easter!

Let's all just let out a big sigh of relief, because Spring is here!

Now that we got that out of the way, first thing on the to-do list for spring, is spring cleaning! Before you go too wild packing all those big winter garments away, make sure to have them all professionally cleaned! Why? Because soil, food stains, perspiration and moisture that remain in your garments attract moths, silverfish and other insects similar to how a good restaurant attracts people. Cleaning your winter garments before putting them away removes the attraction, minimizing the risk of infestation. And I mean really, who wants to pull out a jacket with a stain that's been there for three whole seasons! So, do yourself a favor and get those cleaned! We have even included a deal for you at the bottom!

Another thing this joyful season brings is all the love birds saying, "I do!" Nothing like warm weather to get those church bells ringing! So, whether you are getting married, you are in a wedding, or attending one make sure you are dressed to the nines! We have you covered! From our modern slim-fit styles to custom tailoring, you will not be disappointed!

Check out the deals we are included below! Don't miss out on these awesome Spring deals.
